Who we are and what we do

Who we are

The Asda customer is at the heart of everything we do

We're here to improve the value, quality and availability of our products as well ensure that we are Asda’s lowest cost, sustainable supply chain solution.

What we do

We're one of the largest importers of produce in the UK

As well as produce, we focus on a number of other areas including beverages, protein and nuts. We procure everything from Australian Chardonnay, to Kenyan flowers; South African citrus fruits, to British strawberries and our buyers work hard to ensure we source the very best product at the very best price.

Our operations

Once our produce arrives in the UK, it's dispatched to one of our purpose built, dedicated packing sites

We prepare and pack fresh fruit and veg in one of two dedicated sites; either our Head Office in West Yorkshire, or our sister site in Kent. Our Peterborough site handles all of our houseplants and cut flowers and our facility in Telford packs nuts and dried fruits.

Our supply chain

By removing middle-men, we create value for Asda customers

We control the whole supply chain; sourcing, shipping, packing, bottling and delivering to ensure cost-efficient, high-quality products delivered regularly and reliably, day after day, week after week.

Our suppliers

We build strong working relationships with our suppliers and farmers

Our suppliers are central to improving our logistical expertise and capability; ultimately providing Asda with better quality and value for money. We are a global business with a network of suppliers and farmers worldwide. Our colleagues in our country offices work closely with all areas of our business to provide local expertise and knowledge to continuously improve our offer.

Our History

Formed in 2004 by joint shareholders Bakkavor and Emilio Teresa, International Produce (as we were known back then) took its first delivery of grapes and stonefruit in 2005.

In the years that followed we began expanding the range of fruits we packed before diversifying our portfolio to include vegetables, nuts and dried fruit, houseplants and flowers and wine.

As our remit continued to grow and the diversity of our products evolved, it became increasingly apparent that International Produce Limited no longer encapsulated all that we stood for. And so, in 2013 we changed our name to International Procurement & Logistics Limited.

We are one of the largest privately-owned food processing business in the UK. We have thousands of colleagues across multiple sites in the UK and in our country offices around the world.
